And Now A Word From The Mayor of Ocean City

mayorrickmeehanoctoc

Congratulations Class of 2012 and Welcome to Ocean City!

You have passed a major milestone with your recent graduation from high school now it is time to relax and have some fun and where better to do that than right here in Ocean City, Maryland!

I remember very well the summer of 1967 when I, like you today, visited Ocean City with my friends and classmates to celebrate our graduation. It was a great time to be in Ocean City and although the town may look just a little bit different today it still features the same beach, boardwalk and sense of excitement that we enjoyed back in “The Day”.

Now it is your turn to experience that new found sense of freedom and all of the fun and excitement o f Ocean City. It is a time to reminisce with your friends and to begin to talk about the future as you experience days on the beach and nights out on the boardwalk.

We encourage you to enjoy all of the great alcohol free events offered by the Play It Safe Program while you are here celebrating in Ocean City. This is your week to shine in the Ocean City Sun and we hope that is a safe experience that you will remember for a lifetime!

Sincerely,

Rick Meehan

Mayor Town of Ocean City.

$1 to $5 Is All It Would Take...

Often we are asked by both parents and participants if we are fully funded by the Government. The answer is NO!We recieve less than 5% of our annual budget from Government agencies! MOST OF OUR FUNDING COMES FROM THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU.In the current economy the future budget cuts have already been  announced to remove even more of what public funding we do recieve. That's why we need your donations and support more than ever. Did you like participating or having your grad participate in the Play It Safe Ocean City Project? More than 11,000 graduates participate each year as we continue to grow and our costs grow along with it. Much of our funding comes from individual donors just like you who have participated in the past and donate to help keep the project going. Therefore, for 2012 we are launching the "Pass the Buck Safely" Campaign which hopes to raise funds on-line by getting every parent, past participant, and web visitor to make a Donation as little as $1 to $5. If every one of you did that we would not have to raise any more money and would be fully funded to Play It Safe in 2012....SO Please PASS THE BUCK SAFELY AND DONATE ON-LINE TODAY BY CLICKING HERE
